Values
T.H.E. VALUES
Having emerged through a process of identifying and distilling the deeply held beliefs and visions that we hold in common, these values are collectively held within the heart of our organisation. They guide the Learning Centre’s culture, structure, curriculum and processes, our decision making, and our interactions with each other.
CONSCIOUS EVOLUTION
Human consciousness is a work in progress, on an evolutionary journey. Education has a core role in either enhancing or subverting human evolution. We recognise that our greatest need now is the development of healthy, happy and openly aware citizens. Our curriculum, environment and culture will consciously and continually evolve to keep pace with the constant evolution of society’s needs and potentials.
INTER-RELATIONSHIP
As humans, we are each part of the whole that is humanity, and of the greater whole that is life itself. For the survival of humanity, let alone its evolution, it is essential to understand and demonstrate the realisation that every one of our actions has an effect on the whole. We intend to develop a culture of co-operation which leads to the re-connection and harmonisation of our minds with our hearts, of ourselves with our fellow humans, and of humanity with planetary balance.
HOLISTIC BALANCE
Each of us is alive through four distinctive, yet inter-related “bodies”: physical, emotional, mental and intuitive. For humans to approach their own life potential and become whole persons, every one of these aspects needs to be recognised, and developed in balance with the others. Our curriculum will be focused on the development, of the physical, emotional, intellectual and intuitive nature of our learners and our educators so that they can grow towards their own individual potential.
SELF AWARENESS & RESPONSIBILTY
Beneath our conditioned, reactively developed personality, lies our true self, the part of us that animates the body, feels the feelings and is aware of the thoughts. Recognition and awareness of this self allows us to shift from reactive behaviour to creative, responsible thoughts and actions. High levels of self awareness will allow our learners to fully engage in the Learning Centre’s operations such as maintenance, development, administration, planning and problem solving.
HONOURING INDIVIDUALITY
Each of us is different from any other, with a unique genetic structure, upbringing, personal perspective and life path. We recognise that Education’s true purpose is to recognise, accept and develop the unique life potential that already exists within each person. First and foremost our Educators will study and understand each of their Learners, so they are able to encourage and facilitate their personal learning style, development and potential.
JOYFUL LEARNING
The natural state of humanity is joy, as expressed by happy, content children. In this state, we are ingenuously open and highly receptive, so learning becomes easy, rapid, enjoyable and enduring. Our school culture will be Learner focused by providing an appropriate balance of structure and freedom that supports the individual nature of each student.
NURTURING ENVIRONMENT
Any environment we find ourselves in has a great impact on our emotional state, which determines our ability to learn. For Learners to become open and receptive and fully engage in learning, our environment will be personal, constructive, natural, relaxed, safe and cooperative. Our environment will be safe for every child, free of judgements, criticism and violence while fostering challenge, freedom and adventurous thinking.
