Socio-literacy

Living in a peaceful relationship with all people across the world is a fundamental yearning that we hold deeply in our hearts.

Socio-literacy recognises that we have a connection with all others on the planet, and encourages us to understand, and co-operate with them best we can.

Children want to live in a world where it’s safe to open their hearts. They already recognise the importance of being connected with others no matter who they are or where they come from. The development of social media is a tangible reflection of this. Although they will inherit the world we leave them, they have a strong desire to change it, to live co-operatively rather than competitively, to heal conflicts rather than maintain or escalate them.

Schools and classrooms become a mini society where students learn from the conflicts they have with each other, from working together on team projects and issues that arise in the school and from observing and reflecting on the actions of adults in the global community.
