Why Go On This Journey?
There is a part of us all that is dimly aware we could be happier, that life could be satisfying, that we are capable of more. You were born brilliant. It’s native to you, it’s your inheritance, it’s your birthright.
But as you grew up, slowly and surely, day by day you were unintentionally dimmed down by your school, your newspapers, your church and by your parents (who were also dimmed down when they were little).
For the past few hundred years education has been focused on 5 R’s – reading, ‘riting, ‘rithmetic, rules and remembering – with a little bit of art and competitive sport thrown in. But those 5 R’s ask us to use less than 20% of our brains and none of our hearts. So the great majority of our innate abilities were lost to us when their natural development periods went unrecognized and unsupported.
Learning about the world we live in is really useful, but if we are to achieve the potential we are all born with and create the healthy future we yearn for, the other 80% of our inner brilliance needs to be seen and developed. See Brilliant Education

At the heart of brilliant education is a brilliant curriculum. Its purpose is to allow light and oxygen to flow into every corner of your being.
More valuable than acquiring temporary knowledge is the development of meaningful, practical, real life skills and abilities. More enlightening than conforming to a rigid set of rules is the development of personal responsibility and self-expression. More helpful than competing and comparing ourselves with others is connecting and co-operating with them.

Seven Oaks is a school where children shine! This is why we speak with such confidence.
We started in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2009 to test and develop our educational model and to show the world just how amazing children can be when we let them open and explore the brilliance in their hearts.
This is a school that children tell us they enjoy even more than holidays. It’s a school where teachers report feeling creative and fulfilled. Visitors are amazed by the self-confidence and co-operativeness of the students. Parents report high levels of happiness and creativity in their children.
